Valentine’s Day the Chanel Way

Hearts, balloons, candy, red outfits, I like everything about Valentine’s Day. As someone who loves any chance to buy fun decorations (hello targets dollar section!! #goldmine), V day always excites me. While a lot of holidays center around buying the greatest and bests gifts, Valentine’s Day is just about spreading the love, which I really think everyone could use a little more of.

Though the holiday of love is about others, it’s also a great excuse to self-indulge a bit and do something for you. Often times, I think we get so caught up in people pleasing and worrying about others, we completely forget to do things for ourselves. And honestly, if we don’t take care of ourselves, how can we be there for anyone else? Ya feel?

Since one of my year’s resolutions was to indulge in a little more self-care (meditation, yoga, etc.), I was really excited when Chanel asked me to try out their new beauty products. As a girl who loves getting ready more than the actual event, this was perfect for me. These products are great for prepping for your date night, heading to a “Galentines” day party, or simply gifting your BFF. Let’s be real, who couldn’t use a little more Chanel?

Since Chanel has a reputation for impeccable style and top-notch quality, I knew that their beauty products would follow the same trend.

The products I tried out were:

• Long Wear Nailpolish: La Vernis in Shantung
• Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Rouge Feu

While they’re all amazing, my two favorites from the collection are the Rouge Allure Matte Lip and the Gabrielle Chanel Fragrance. As someone who often doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, I prefer to use products that work to enhance your natural beauty rather than cover it up. The Gabrielle Chanel Fragrance is a timeless scent with fruity green notes and fresh Orange Blossom. It’s potent, but not overpowering – just the right balance.

As for the Rouge Allure Matte Lip, I knew it would be a favorite from the minute I laid eyes upon the color. Though I prefer a light makeup look to heavy, lipstick is something I’ve always loved. Often times, I wake up, put my hair in a big bun, curl my eyelashes, throw on a bright lipstick, and head out the door. Lipstick has always been my secret weapon: something that I’m confident wearing but doesn’t make me feel too “made up”. In the photos above, I’m wearing the Rouge Allure Matte in the color Rouge Feu, which I think is the perfect red for every skin tone. It is also on the cooler side which is great for making your smile look bright and white. Often times, matte lipsticks are super drying and feel awful in about an hour. This one, however, is a non-drying formula that is long wearing and comfortable for hours on end.
