You know the drill: you’re browsing the internet looking for some cute new clothes and come upon a shop you’ve never heard. It’s called ASOS. The pieces look super cute, affordable, and they seem to have a little bit of everything. Before you know it, you’re rapid fire adding things to your cart, and getting so excited. Then you take a step back and think… “I’ve never shopped here before. Is it realiable? How is the sizing? Can I trust this site?”.
Trust me, I’ve been there! While online shopping can be amazing as it offers items we could never get our hands on in real life, it also adds a layer of mystery & stress since we are submitting our payment info to an unknown source. You guys know that I absolutely love sharing sites I shop from a lot so you can get a gauge on them, so today I wanted to share ASOS. ASOS is a brand that I have been shopping from for almost over a decade and absolutely love. They have a little bit of everything, carry my favorite brands, and always have free shipping and free returns!
With the holidays coming up, I figured it would be a perfect time to share my Top 5 Tips for Shopping at ASOS. Let’s get shopping!
Here are a few of my favorite pieces for the season, but check out their awesome selection for yourself here!
As you can see from the above, there are plenty of reasons to give shopping at ASOS a try. Here are my Top 5 Tips for Successful Shopping on ASOS, and how to have a great shopping experience at this amazing store!
In my experience, ASOS clothing runs true to size! It often runs in number sizing (4,6,8,10,12, etc) instead of (S,M,L) so I normally go with my pants size (8) for all! Just be aware that while ASOS does carry it’s own brand, it also carries loads of other well-known brands like Free People, Converse, Nike, etc.
When a piece is ASOS brand, I recommend going true to size. When something is another brand, I recommend looking into their size chart.
I always like to look into the specifics when purchasing a product on ASOS and it’s so helpful how many details they give.
Product details: Here you can find info about the style, fit (zipper, no zipper, etc), and sizing (true to size, oversized, fitted, etc).
Size and fit: These details contain info about the model in the photo. I find this helpful to help compare (aka if a model is 5’10 and something is a good length on them, it may be long on me at 5’4)
About me: Contains a bit of info about the fabric of the item, etc. Just helpful to view!
A unique thing that ASOS provides their shoppers is a video for almost every item on the site. Under the photos (which are shown when you click into a product page on the left hand side), there is a black icon that says “video”. Simply tap the icon, and it shows you the item in action! I have found this soo helpful when shopping for dresses, pants, etc, to see how certain things move / look like in real life.
An interesting thing about the ASOS site is that it takes items out of your cart within the hour of placing them there. For example, if you add an item to your cart, but don’t place the order within the hour, they will no longer appear in your cart, and are added to your “saved for later” which appears under your cart. They do this so they can show the correct inventory of the items. It’s no big deal – it just tripped me up the first time I used the site so I wanted to mention it!
One of the main perks of shopping at ASOS is they have super fast *free returns and free shipping* on basically every order. If that isn’t incentive enough, they often have promo codes! I like to check for these through the web browser app Honey, or Retailmenot.
& That’s a wrap!
I hope this post was helpful and inspires you to give shopping at ASOS a try! I’ve been a fan and customer for years, and I hope you become one too! Happy shopping!
Sincerely, Katerina
