Supporting Fair Trade products means that you are making a difference in the lives of the people who grow the food you eat and the goods you use.
I recently teamed up with a really incredible fashion brand called Upcycled Styles. Upcycled Styles is based in Thailand and is an entirely fair trade organization. They work with Burmese refuges, the Hmong and Karen Indigenous people who live along the northern border of Thailand, and students and local artists in their adopted home city of Chiang Mai. They are a social enterprise that gives a percentage of every sale to their artisan partners because they believe that fashion doesn’t have to be exploitative.
How cool is that? Ever since I started learning more and dedicating myself to a healthy lifestyle, i’ve become very supportive of Fair Trade companies that work to promote fair practices and sustainability. Fair trade simply means fair pay and working conditions to the workers producing the products you are buying. It also means that the products are made safely, in healthy working conditions. Who wouldn’t want that for workers around the world? Also, many times Fair Trade means higher quality goods, better tasting food, and safer products.
Upcycled Styles‘ goal is to ensure itâs artisan partners have access to the necessary infrastructure and education to succeed in our modern economy. Upcycled Styles aspires to bridge the gaps that our artisan partners face in order to accomplish the goal of integrating them into our modern global economy, and we believe that doing so will foster an environment where its partners will flourish, become self-sustaining, and encourage growth and success for themselves, their families, and their local communities.
I really can’t wait to style their beautiful pieces and wear them with pride. If you have time, go check out their website Upcycled Styles and grab some of their beautiful products to help facilitate a change.
